Frank and Emily were kissing, Emily had her shirt off and Ginger walked in. He came over to the house looking for Ginger, but she was out on a date. The story is that Frank and Ginger had just broken up and so did Emily and her ex-boyfriend. Lulu asks Ginger when she lost her virginity which leads to Ginger admitting she’s only ever slept with Frank, but he definitely slept with other women, implying Emily.
He begins to confess something but hasn’t quite finished the note yet. She goes into their room and sees a crumpled note that she believes is written to her. As Lulu goes upstairs, she sees Pierce leave and hides behind a plant so he can’t see her.
The two were always close but it seemed like they were more in completion with each other. Emily tells Lulu that the whole wedding feels like Whitney trying to show Kate that she made it. The two ladies keep talking and Lulu finds herself telling Emily stuff she wouldn’t normally tell people regarding her marriage. She waits for Lulu to share, and she shares that she thinks her husband is going to leave her. Emily also shares that she slept with Henry on the plane. She feels weird now giving Whitney a photo album that doesn’t even have many pictures of Whitney. Emily shares her photo album with Lulu that she planned to give Whitney, and it’s obvious that the majority of the pictures are of Emily and Ginger. Lulu observes Emily and senses she lost the sparkle that most women have: she doesn’t dress well for her body, jewelry is boring, and she isn’t trying to impress anyone. As she’s mumbling to herself, Emily asks her if she’s talking to her. Lulu is at the bar, and she sees lots of moms with babies. Instead of answering, he leaves the jacuzzi and Lulu is stuck being confused and upset. She doesn’t want to lose her fifth husband and is trying desperately to make it to five years. He doesn’t fight for anything and he’s always distant, not really paying attention to her. She’s curious as to what could be behind that drawer. She’s been noticing a sort of longing in his eyes and goes to search in his office where he has a locked drawer. Back at their house, Lulu is trying to get ready for the day, but they can’t find Pierce’s wallet. She is sixty eight and on her fifth marriage. She’s there for her nephew’s wedding and has confessed to the murder. it took me about five days to read this book! I hope you enjoy my review! I rented this book from my local library.
