
I love the way she made female friends in this book, and that she didn’t use them for her own goals. She’s very driven, and although she isn’t the nicest person around, she definitely isn’t mean either. There are really two main characters: Alessandra, who plans to kill the king, and king Kallias, who is trying very hard to stay alive. You won’t find any “good” or “morally just” people in this story, so if that’s what you want then this book isn’t for you. You know how sometimes you’re kinda of rooting for the bad guys? The Shadows Between Us is kind of like that. “They’ve never found the body of the first and only boy who broke my heart. After all, who better for a Shadow King than a cunning, villainous queen?
